Empowering coloring book, Leadership Looks Like Me – Kamala Harris Edition launches ahead of election. This is an inclusive book of coloring and affirmations. The book sets out to empower and inspire girls from all cultures and racial backgrounds.

Jessica Owusu-Afriyie, founder of Suite Creative Studio, published an empowering Kamala Harris coloring book ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Leadership Looks Like Me – Kamala Harris Edition is thoughtful, powerful, and beautiful. The pages fill with positive affirmations and quotes from strong female leaders. In addition, inspiring quotes from Kamala Harris and the late, honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg make beautiful art. Line drawings show Kamala Harris from childhood to present-day Vice-President Elect. Therefore they tell the story of a little girl who becomes one of the most notable leaders of her time. 

A WAY TO GIVE BACK

In addition, up to November 3^rd, 2020 fifty percent of all profits have been donated to the Biden/Harris 2020 presidential campaign on a weekly basis. After that, a portion of sales will be donated to charitable organizations focused on minority communities. 

HOW IT STARTED

Above all the idea came about the day Kamala Harris became the Vice-Presidential Candidate on the birthday of Jessica’s oldest daughter. It was born in an effort to create a simple graphic to commemorate the historic moment. After that, the idea grew into a full coloring book with an empowering message to little girls of all backgrounds. Kamala Harris is the leading character. In addition, accompanying her are line drawings of girls from various backgrounds: Black, Latinx, Filipino, Indian, White. 

Jessica partnered with her longtime friend and former fashion industry colleague, Wahkuna Campbell. They met while working together in New York City. Similarly, they both made their way to Los Angeles. Jessica and Wahkuna are now mothers to young girls. Together, they illustrated every page. Therefore, they created the type of coloring book they want to see for their own daughters. Above all, they hope to inspire the future generation of leaders with the artistry and imagination of this passion project. This book paves the way for a more conscious series of children’s activity books.
